KHAR: A man was killed when a bomb planted along a road went off here on Wednesday, local administration officials said.

They said that Momin Khan was on way to a nearby place in Ganag area of Salarzai tehsil when an explosive device went off injuring him critically. He succumbed to his wounds while being taken to hospital.

Though no one has immediately claimed responsibility for the blast, the local administration suspects that militants could be responsible for the incident.

Local people and Bajaur Levies personnel reached the site and launched an operation to trace the culprits.

Local residents said that a number of people of nearby areas were arrested by the administration under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

Residents said deceased Momin Khan, 42, had no personal enmity with anyone. However, he had played a vital role in restoration of peace to the area.

A senior political administration official said that investigation was underway to find out the motive behind the blast.
