RAWALPINDI: Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) will conduct the feasibility study for water supply from Chahan Dam to Potohar Town’s 12 urban union councils (UCs) next week.
“Wasa has two major plans for improvement of water supply in Potohar Town area, which falls in PP-6 constituency, to end water shortage in the coming summer,” Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood told Dawn.
Mr Mehmood said the civic agency took over water supply of Potohar Town urban union councils a few months ago, and things would now improve.
He said under the new scheme, water supply lines will be laid and connected with Chahan Dam.
He said the Punjab government had started work on the Rs1.6 billion Chahan Dam near Chakri which would likely be completed by the end of 2015.
To a question, he said feasibility cost would be borne by the provincial government and it would be part of the main dam project.
For another project, the Wasa chief said the agency had prepared the project worth Rs592 million and sent it to Punjab government for final approval.
He further added that work would start once the provincial government gave the green signal.
