ISLAMABAD: Rector of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai has called for a uniform educational system to bridge the gap between seminaries and modern schools.

He was addressing participants at a dialogue titled ‘Our Education System, Single Curriculum and Role of Religious Scholars’ in Balochistan University organised by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD). He said religious leaders, scholars, khanqas and mashaikh play a vital role in protecting the ideology of Islam and Pakistan.

Dr Yasinzai said since counselling and deliberation is a sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), religious and modern educational institutions should join hands in this regard and must be given due opportunities to contribute in preparation of a single curriculum.

He said different recommendations and suggestions for a uniform national curriculum and education system should be formulated as the federal government is taking serious steps in this regard and in the first phase, a uniform education system has been introduced at the primary level. He said protection of the young generation from atheism is a big challenge for us as atheism is spreading among the youth at present.

Dr Husnul Amin, executive director of the IRD said recommendations of this session shall be shared with the forums concerned for formulation of a comprehensive policy.

He added that Urdu should be given importance and this consultation process should be further expanded by consulting all organisations of madrassas, religious parties and people from all walks of life. At the end of the ceremony, Mr Yasinzai distributed books and shields among participants and guests.
