ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain, wind, thundershowers, and isolated heavy falls in Islamabad; the district administration has directed all concerned offices to remain on their toes to prevent urban flooding.

According to a statement, in view of the expected rainfall in the federal capital, the district administration has issued an alert.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner Sahibzada Yousuf has instructed all assistant commissioners to remain in the field and ensure continuous monitoring of low-lying areas and stormwater drains.

The assistant commissioners have also been directed to coordinate closely with sanitation staff to ensure timely drainage of rainwater and prevent urban flooding.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) emphasised that dewatering pumps and all other necessary machinery should be kept fully operational and readily available to facilitate prompt water drainage.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic on major roads during the rainfall, all field formations have been instructed to develop a joint operational strategy in coordination with the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP).

The district administration has also appealed to citizens to immediately inform the relevant authorities in case of any emergency to enable a swift and effective response.
