HARIPUR: A man shot dead his wife and his mother-in-law and injured a two-month-old son over an altercation with his spouse in Ghazi area, the police said on Saturday.

The Ghazi police quoted Abdullah Khan, 8, son of Mohammad Asif Khan of Bilal Town, as saying that his father had an altercation with his mother, Uzma Bibi over some unknown reasons. He said as his father was short-tempered he opened fire with a pistol, injuring her critically.

When his grandmother (mother-in-law of the accused), Toheed Bibi, attempted to rescue her daughter, the accused allegedly also pumped bullets into her body. The minor boy said both his mother and maternal grandmother died on the spot.

He said a bullet also hit one of the legs of his two-month-old brother, Mohiz Khan.

Abdullah Khan said he remained unhurt as he hid himself in a washroom locking it from inside.

He said he later informed the neighbours who shifted the bodies and the injured boy to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Ghazi.

The police said motive behind the double murder was not yet known as the accused managed to escape from the area.

They, however registered a case against the accused, and have started making raids for his arrest.
