— Dawn

SHANGLA: High and singing Machar waterfall is attracting a large number of visitors as weather starts to turn warm. The waterfall is situated along the Swat-Bisham road in Alpuri.

“While on way to Swat Kalam we stopped here to witness this beautiful waterfall, which is a blessing for the visitors,” Ali Haider, a tourist, said.

“I witnessed such a wonderful and breathtaking waterfall coupled with thick forests and lush green meadows for the first time in my life,” Bilal Khan, another visitor, said.

He suggested the government should establish hotels, guest houses and tourist facilitation centres to boost tourism in Shangla and generate revenue.

Adil Khan, a local, told Dawn that the Machar waterfall was one of the best and beautiful places to visit.

He said the waterfall was easily accessible to everyone as it was situated along the main Swat-Bisham road.

He said the people also took bath under the waterfall to beat the heat, adding its water could also be used for drinking.

“With every passing day, the Machar waterfall is becoming popular with tourists as it is unique and falls from a height,” Maqbool Hussain, another local tourist, said.

District nazim Niaz Ahmed Khan said he had approved funds for making the Machar waterfall a proper and permanent tourist destination.

He said all essential facilities would be provided at the spot.

TRAFFIC AWARENESS DRIVE: The district police on Wednesday launched an awareness drive about traffic rules.

District police officer Syed Rasool Shah launched the drive in Bisham.

The DPO and other police officials distributed pamphlets among the drivers in Bisham city, Puran, Chakesar, Shahpur, Alpuri and other areas to create awareness about the traffic rules.
