Boxing squad named for CW Games

KARACHI, July 22 The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) on Thursday named a six-member squad for the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in New Delhi from Oct 3 to 14.

The team includes Mohammad Waseem (49kg), Haroon Shahid (52kg), Qadir Khan (56kg), Adnan Hussain (60kg), Nisar Khan (75kg) and Mir Waiz Khan (91+kg). Two reserve boxers are Naimatullah (56kg) and Arshad Hussain (60kg).

Pakistan's Cuban coach Francisco Hernandez Roldan will be the chief coach and Ali Bakhsh will serve as his deputy. Faqir Hussain will be the manager of the team.

In the presence of top European and African countries, Pakistan's fist- fighters will be facing a big challenge at the event.

Currently, Pakistan boxers are attending a training camp at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Centre.—APP
