SUKKUR: Violation of Gutka ban

SUKKUR, Jan 5 Despite the ban on Gutka and Manpuri, its sale throughout upper Sindh was going unabated giving rise to oral cancer cases.

According to reports gathered from Sukkur, Ghotki, Ubauro, Daharki, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Kashmore, Jacobabad and other areas, sale of Gutka and Manpuri was going up as mostly youngsters get addicted and start showing signs of mouth and throat disease which eventually turns into cancer.

A seminar was held under the aegis of Aga Khan Health Centre according to which people aged between 14 to 32 years had 70 per cent chances of developing mouth and throat malignancy.

Doctors and health authorities had advised parents to keep their children away from Gutka and Manpuri.
