Eight militants killed in Kohat

KOHAT Eight militants were killed and one injured in shelling by helicopter gunships at suspected Taliban hideouts in Jawaki area of the frontier region of Kohat on Saturday.

The security forces arrested five suspected militants during search operations in the Jawaki and Shindand areas of frontier region of district Kohat.

The suspects were shifted to an unknown place for interrogation by the security forces.

However the spokesman for the local Tehrik-e-Taliban Jawaki told Dawn by telephone, that they had repulsed the attack of the security forces which resulted in the death of a civilian.

He alleged that a school and hospital buildings were partially damaged during the intense artillery fire by the security forces.
