ISLAMABAD Secretary Information PML-N Ahsan Iqbal has reiterated that the party will not deviate from its commitment to ensure trial against former dictator Pervez Musharraf.

Addressing a press conference, he said that since PML-N had announced pursuing a trial against Musharraf, a propaganda campaign had been launched against the party to divert the attention of the masses with a blame game over the 15 year old Karachi operation.

Iqbal also reiterated that the PML-N aimed for the repeal of the 17th amendment.

'If a common man in the country breaks any rules or regulations he has to face the music, but if a dictator sabotages the constitution of the country, he is honoured with guard of honour, but now we have to abandon the past taboos and should ensure trial against a dictator making mockery of law and constitution in the country,' said Ahsan Iqbal.

The PML-N leader further said that Musharraf marred the image of the whole armed forces due to his personnel politics and the trial of Musharraf will not only improve the army's image but will also ensure the supremacy of the country's constitution.

'While signing the Charter of Democracy the political leadership of both PML-N and PPP had intended not to repeat the past mistakes, but the incumbents were pursuing the politics of the dictatorial regime, 'Ahsan Added.

Responding to a query, he emphasized that the PML-N could go to any limit, like a 'Long March' to ensure trial against the former military dictator.—Online
