12 police officers get awards

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal (QPM) and President Police Medal (PPM) on 51 police officers, including 12 officers of Islamabad police, in recognition of their service and performance.

A police spokesman said here on Tuesday that the gallantry awards were conferred on the occasion of Independence Day.

The president has conferred 12 awards of Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal and President Police Medal on Islamabad police officers and personnel for making foolproof security arrangements and apprehending 39 high-value terrorists.

Quaid-i-Azam Police Medal has been given to three personnel of city police - ASI Salahuddin, ASI Munawar Hussain and Head Constable Abdul Waheed - who were killed in separate suicide incidents in the capital.

President Police Medal was given to SSP Operation Tahir Alam Khan, SP Saddar Division Nasir Aftab, SP City Division Sajid Kiani, SP Investigation Saqib Sultan, SDPO City Circle, ASP Muntazir Mehdi, SDPO Saddar Circle ASP Capt (retired) Liaquat Ali Malik, ASI Anwar Ali, ASI Imtiaz Ahmad and Constable Mohammad Ramazan.
