KHAIRPUR, June 30 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has called for preservation of record of elections and assembly of former Khairpur state and publication of a book on political role of late Atta Mohammad Hami.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the 28th death anniversary of Hami at his village in Deh Sohu Kanasiro on Wednesday night, Dr Shah said that Hami was a political personality besides being a poet and scholar who contested elections in 1953 and was elected member of former Khairpur state assembly.

He said that Hami was the only opposition member in the assembly against the then chief minister of Khairpur State Mumtaz Kazalbash.

He said that it was unfortunate that the minister for culture of the former government could not even speak Sindhi.

Before restoration of democracy in the country, Sindh had been pushed back 13 years and no development work had been done, he said.
