MIANWALI, Dec 4 Two foreign journalists, who visited Darya Khan tehsil of Bhakkar district to interview the parents of a man allegedly involved in a terror attack on Rescue 15 building in Lahore, were sent back to Islamabad late on Thursday night after they failed to produce a permission letter from the authorities for the purpose.

The journalists from New York Times visited the area to interview the parents of terror suspect Engineer Asif Ansari, but the police reached the scene as soon as they came to know about their presence in the locality. They asked the American journalists to show them a permission letter issued by the authorities for the purpose, but they could not. As a result, the police told them to leave the district immediately.

When these journalists were ready to cross into Mianwali district on Thursday night, the police stopped them at a checkpoint on MM Road and sent them back to Bhakkar district. Later, Bhakkar police sent them to Islamabad.

Mianwali District Police Officer Abdul Jabbar Rana said all foreign journalists were bound to get permission from foreign affairs as well as interior ministries before entering Mianwali and Bhakkar districts because of the prevailing law and order situation in the country.

A student of the Abdul Razaq Shaheed PAF College was honoured at a ceremony here on Friday.

Tayyaba Maqbool Malik was honoured for winning a bronze medal at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO-2009) in Japan.

College Principal Malik Gul Nawaz said about 5,000 students from across the country took part in the competition and only four of them qualified for the final that was held in Japan. Ms. Malik was among 223 students from 56 countries and she won a bronze medal.

PAF Mianwali Base Commander Air Commodore Saeed Muhammad Khan was chief guest on this occasion.

The distinguished student's mother, Dr. Khalida Maqbool Malik, was also present.
