SUKKUR, Oct 27 A jirga was held in Khangarh reportedly by Ghotki District Nazim Ali Gohar Mahar late on Monday night to settle a three-month-old karo-kari dispute between groups belonging to Sial and Mahar communities.

Ghotki DPO Ghazi Salahuddin has taken notice of the jirga reports and ordered the SPO of Mirpur Mathelo, Imtiaz Domki, to conduct an inquiry.

About three months ago, Malhar Sial and his cousin Noor Mohammad Sial killed their wives Husna and Sughran, respectively, after branding them karis and announced Daim Mahar and Allah Warayo Mahar were karos, alleging they had illicit relations with their wives.

The Sials have since then been pressurising the Mahars to settle the dispute through a jirga. The men branded karos had gone in hiding since the women's murder.

Malhar Sial, Noor Mohammad Sial, Daim Mahar and Allah Warayo Mahar were present at the jirga, which found the two guilty and ordered them to pay Rs350,000 as fine. Mahars promised to pay the fine within a month.

COUPLE KILLED A man killed his wife and her alleged paramour in Karim Bux Bullo village near Pano Akil late Monday night.

According to relatives, Budhal Bullo suspected that his wife Rukhsana, 21, had illicit relations with his relative Zulfiqar, 36.

On Monday night when Budhal entered his house he saw his wife with Zulfiqar in objectionable condition.

On information, the Pano Akil police reached the village and took the body of Zulfiqar to the hospital for post-mortem. Later, the bodies were handed over to relatives of deceased.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.
