Gilani visits Gilgit today

GILGIT, Sept 28 Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani would visit Gilgit on Tuesday to announce an economic package for the area, officials said.

They said that arrangements had been finalised for the visit of prime minister. They added that chief secretary would brief prime minister on the occasion about the transition plan of autonomy package while inspector general police would inform him about the law order situation in the area.

“The home secretary will brief him about Diamer-Bhasha dam,” they said and added that prime minister would also address a public gathering in the city and meet delegations.

The acting governor of Gilgit-Balstistan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, has already reached Gilgit to receive the prime minister.

LAID TO REST Raja Ali Ahmed Jan, a local leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, who was assassinated the other day was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Nagir. — Correspondent
