GILGIT The Gilgit-Balstistan Assembly is likely to be dissolved on Wednesday.

A notification in this regard has been signed by President Asif Ali Zardari, an official of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Area Ministry told Dawn on Tuesday.

“The summary has been approved by the President and the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly stands dissolved,” said Ashraf Sindhu, Private Secretary to the Minister for Kasmir Affairs and Northern Areas. The schedule for election to the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly has been finalized and polls to be held on Nov 12.

Speaker of the Assembly, Malik Muhammad Miskeen, expressed ignorance about the decision.
