Gujrat varsity security enhanced

GUJRAT, June 19 Security at the University of Gujrat has been enhanced after some anonymous threats to Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nizamuddin. It is learnt the threats, hurled through SMS massages, advised the VC to leave the university as soon as possible.

Sources said that after receiving threats the VC convened a meeting of senior university officials. Later, a varsity team met Gujrat DPO Riaz Nazeer Gara and brought the matter to his knowledge.

Jallalpur Jattan police registered a case against unidentified accused under sections 506 and 25 D Telegraph Act on the report of Major Muhammad Sarwar retired, the chief security officer of the UOG.

Varsity Deputy Registrar Sheikh Rasheed confirmed the threats but said the university was functioning as usual. Police said it was trying to trace the identity of the cell number which was used to send the SMS.
