MINGORA A suicide bomber blew up an explosive-laden car a few yards off the security checkpost on the Airport road in the jurisdiction of Mingora police station on Thursday.

No casualty was reported as the bomber blew himself up prematurely about hundred yards off the checkpost near the Kanju bridge.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan told Dawn that the suicide bomber slipped off the site as the explosive-laden car went out of order while on way to his target. He said the security forces on suspicion exploded the vehicle with firing on it in the middle of the Kanju bridge, damaging it for vehicular traffic.

In another incident, militants shot dead Malak Samin Khan, the Awami National Party (ANP) Dir Upper district senior vice president, in Surab Khan Chowk, Mingora, on Thursday.

He came Mingoa to appear in a case before the anti-terrorist court, Mingora police said, adding that his body was dispatched to Dir.

Malak Samin Khan, belonged to the Badalai area of Nehag Dara, tehsil Wari, and was a prominent ANP leader. He was active in establishing a lashkar to flush out Taliban militants from the region.

Sources said Taliban local commander Hafizullah claimed responsibility for his killing, saying he was killed for involvement in anti-Taliban activities.

The spokesman also warned that those people who were found involved in setting up lashkars or other anti-Taliban acts would meet the same fate.

Meanwhile, four dead bodies were recovered from different areas of Swat on Thursday.

Police said bullet-riddled bodies of two persons were found in the Kala Kalley of Kabal tehsil, adding that they were kidnapped from the Khairabad area two days ago.

Two bodies were recovered in the Gashkor area of Khwazakhela tehsil, police said, adding that one of the them had been strangulated.

Locals said all four deceased were pro-government people, saying militants may be involved in their killings.
