ISLAMABAD, April 7: China has assured Pakistan of mobilizing all resources to get the Gwadar Deep Sea Port completed on time.

Liu Huaiyuan, president of China Harbour Engineering Corporation, accompanied by Zhang Chunxiang, ambassador of China to Pakistan, on Monday met with Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance Shaukat Aziz and said the Chinese company was committed to completing the construction of Gwadar Sea Port on time.

According to an official announcement, Liu Huaiyuan said the Gwadar port would be a citadel of time tested and all-weather friendship between the two countries.

Shoukat Aziz informed the guests that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was coordinating convening of a conference of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan to construct an infrastructure effectively linking the Gwadar Sea Port with Afghanistan and the Central Asian states to be used for transit trade.

The port, which has regional and strategic importance, would serve as main conduit for the economic growth and industrial development of the Central Asian states and also a sea link between them and the entire world.

The Pakistan government, the advisor on finance said, desired the early completion of the port to ensure quality port service to the entrepreneurs, besides providing an opportunity and hope to the people of Balochistan, especially of coastal area.

The Gwadar Port, he pointed out, would trigger economic and social development that would create job opportunities for the people of Balochistan by becoming a hub of economic development.

Mr Shaukat said that an industrial zone with 5-star hotel will be set up at Gwadar to facilitate accelerated industrialization and quality of life for entrepreneurs.
