HYDERABAD, Dec 14 Activists of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party held a demonstration outside the Hyderabad press club on Sunday against an alleged armed attack on the house of a central leader of the party, Dr Ahmed Noonari in Tando Mohammad Khan, and arrest of 27 party activists.

Speaking on the occasion, STP leaders Muzaffar Kalhoro, Jam Shoukat Abro, Sachal Gopang and others accused Tando Mohammad Khan police of the partisan role and said that while the house of Noonari was attacked the activists of the party were arrested.

The protesters raised slogans against Tando Mohammad Khan police and Sirhandis.

They said that DPO Tando Mohammad Khan was acting as servant of the Sirhandis and added that the government had launched an unannounced operation against the STP activists. They warned that if the arrested party activists were not released and false cases against them were not withdrawn, protests drive will continue throughout Sindh.

A press release of the party said that similar demonstrations were also held in many Sindhi villages of Karachi, Badin, Kario Ghanwar, Talhar, Naukot and other towns.

Meanwhile, senior party leaders, Dr Haider Shahani, Hote Khan Gadhi and Nand Lal Malhi met the arrested leaders, Ahmed Noonari and others in the police lockup.

Talking to journalists, they accused Sirhandis of firing at the residence of Ahmed Noonari and damaging vehicles. They said that false cases had been registered against the party workers and demanded their immediate release and withdrawal of false cases against them.
