Indian shelling kills one

MUZAFFARABAD, March 26: One person died and several others were injured on Tuesday and Wednesday in unprovoked Indian shelling in three southern districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior AKJ police officer Raja Ghulam Sarwar told Dawn that Indian shelling in Hajira sector on Wednesday killed Mufeed, son of Khalil, in the Tetrinot village and injured Fazal Hussain in the nearby Dhalochian village. On Tuesday evening, Mohammad Latif, 24, was wounded in the Tetrinot village.

In Kotli district, shelling began in Nakyal and Khuiratta sectors on Tuesday evening and injured Mohammad, 70, and Ms Jan, 77.

Shelling in Khuiratta sector continued throughout the Tuesday night during which five more people were wounded in the villages of Inderla, Kotehra and Kund Pathran. The injured were identified as Mohammad Younas, Khurshid, Ishtiaq, Mohammad Yaqoob and Khurshid Begum.
