KARACHI: Restoration of perks

Published December 3, 2001

KARACHI, Dec 2: The Railway Workers’ Federation (RWF) has demanded restoration of 22 seats’ quota in each train for the railway employees during Eid season.

The RWF chief Manzoor Ahmad Razi on Sunday said the employees had the quota since pre-partition days, but the present administration abolished it.

He said the government had given an Eid allowance of Rs2,000 to the lower grade employees last year, but so far no Eid allowance has been announced for the employees. He demanded that the announcement be made immediately.

He said two Eid special trains from Karachi would not be able to cope with the rush. — Staff Reporter
