RAWALPINDI An anti-terrorism court here on Thursday sent a man for his alleged role in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai last year to Adiala jail on judicial remand for 14 days.
ATC-I Judge Malik Akram Awan sent Jamil Ahmed of Batgram to the jail after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced him in the court, saying he was not needed for more interrogation.
Earlier, the judge reprimanded the FIA officials seeking the judicial remand of the suspect without presenting him before the court.
The investigators claimed that the suspect helped one of the already arrested suspects in collecting money allegedly used for carrying out attacks in Mumbai on November 26.
The court has been trying five arrested suspects — Shahid Jameel Riaz of Bhawalpur, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi of Islamabad, Abdul Wajid alias Zarar Shah of Sheikhupura, Mazhar Iqbal alias Abu al-Qama resident of Islamabad and Hammad Amin Saddiq of Karachi in the jail. The court would resume the in-camera trial on August 29.
Meanwhile, Special Judge Central (SJC) Muhammad Masroor Zaman remanded a Nigerian national in the physical custody of the FIA for four days after he was arrested in an immigration related case.
The FIA sought the custody of Yougo Cheeki Kochou after a man — Sadiq Hussain Shah — complained to the FIA that he gave the Nigerian 6,500 sterling pounds as he posed himself an official of visa consul of British High Commission.
