Bad roads in Sukkur

Published December 5, 2009

I BELONG to district Sukkur but live and work in Karachi with my family. On Eid-ul-Azha holidays in November, I went to Sukkur along with my family members to celebrate Eid there.

I was really surprised to see the existing roads of Sukkur town. Not a single road of the town was in good shape. All important roads of the town, i.e. Station Road, District Jail Road, Barrage Road, Sukha Talab Road, New Pind Road and New Goth Road, were a shambles.

Millions of rupees have been provided to Sukkur in the last eight years but the infrastructure of the town has remained the same as it was eight years ago.

Will the district nazim convince the suffering population of the town as to where did all the money provided for development purpose go?

At least Sukkur district has not achieved the desired results of development for which a system of district governments was introduced by Musharraf eight years ago.
