Musharraf`s `mistakes`

Published June 13, 2010

The academic staff association of the Quaid-i-Azam University observed a strike to protest cuts in the higher education budget.

The academicians regretted that with the recent cuts many on-going projects in various universities of Pakistan will be closed.

The pre-requisite of possessing a graduation degree for contesting polls was struck down by the court last year. Therefore our parliamentarians, prospective rulers and chancellors of universities can be illiterates.

Musharraf made three glaring mistakes increased women's seats in the parliament, inserted the graduation clause for contesting elections for parliaments and made compulsory intra-party elections in the constitution of Pakistan.

Higher education is not a priority; so asking them to spend money on irrelevant matters will be a sheer waste.
