Private number calling

Published September 17, 2010

THE issue of 'private number calling' needs to be addressed on an urgent basis. On Sept 9 at 0902 hrs, I received a call from a 'private number' whereby the person on the other side identified himself as some captain (jumbled his name up) calling from 'counter-intelligence' unit asking me if I knew that my phone was being misused?

I asked the gentleman to clearly identify himself and call from an identifiable number, but in return I was abused and threatened with abduction, so I hung up the phone. My request to PTA is to ensure that no agency or department is authorised to mask their identification. This will help and save us 'bloody civilians' from being accosted by whosoever uses such cowardly tactics to snub free speech in Pakistan.
