LARKANA, March 6: Opposing the sale of the Shahdadkot Textile, the unit’s labour union on Thursday announced its decision to launch a protest drive from Sunday.

Syed Ghulam Shah, general secretary of the textile mill’s labour union, who chaired the meeting held in Shahdadkot on Thursday, said that the PIDC’s decision to sell the textile mill at Rs82.5 million was an unjust move as well as against the interests of the labourers.

The value of the mills, he said, was not less than Rs400 million, while only the outstanding dues of labourers amounted to Rs140 million. The protest drive would also call for clearing the arrears of the labourers.
