KARACHI, Nov 27: Around 40 houses in Federal B’ Area’s Block 16 have been receiving contaminated water for the last four days.

Residents of the affected locality said that although about 40 houses, from House No 519 onward, had been receiving stinking and blackish water for the last four days, the officials concerned of the KWSB had not taken measures to rectify the fault responsible for the contaminated water.

Suspecting that sewage might be seeping into their pipeline, residents of the locality demanded of the KWSB managing director to direct the officials to rectify the problem on priority, or else those consuming it might fell victim to serious abdomen ailments, including gastroenteritis.

They also urged the authorities to arrange the supply of water to their houses through the KWSB tankers till they started getting clean water through the pipeline.

SHORTAGE: Many parts of the city experienced a water shortage for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

The hard-hit areas include parts of Lyari, Khokhrapar No 2-1/2, Saudabad, PECHS Block 6 (green-belt area) and Bhadurabad No 3.

Residents of Khokhrapar and PECHS Block 6 complained that although their localities often remained without water, the KWSB’s officials concerned seemed least interested in resolving the lingering issue despite scores of complaints lodged with them.

Angry residents of Lyari on Tuesday allegedly beat KWSB officials when they were reportedly busy in opening a valve in the jurisdiction of Chakiwara police station.

Taking a serious notice of the incident, the KWSB managing director has asked the Rangers to get an FIR registered against the persons who beat up the KWSB officials at the police station and also provide protection to the KWSB officials in discharging their duties.
