KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that the party would field candidates from across the country in the upcoming general elections and would surprise many with startling results.

This he said while addressing a meeting of office-bearers of all wings of the party here on Thursday.

Altaf Hussain urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to extend the date of submission of nomination forms by one week.

He said that the MQM would obtain resounding success in Sindh and form the government and hoped that the next chief minister of province would be a party loyal.

Hussain said that complete cooperation would be extended to police and rangers in their efforts to make Karachi and the rest of the country free of weapons.

He appealed to all religious and political parties to refrain from using provocative language in their speeches.

The MQM chief asked the office-bearers of the party belonging to all four provinces to submit nomination forms of eligible candidates by March 31.
