Musharraf escape case: SC order against IGP Islamabad filed in IHC

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan's (SC) earlier order pertaining to action against Islamabad’s Inspector General Police in facilitating the escape of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday, DawnNews reported.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC heard the case today.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had disposed an appeal filed by the IG of Islamabad police Bani Amin against the IHC’s decision which held him responsible for Musharraf’s escape from the court premises on April 18 and ordered action against him.

The apex court moreover ordered the interior ministry to hold an impartial inquiry into the matter keeping in view the IHC’s earlier directives over the case. The court submitted its response in the IHC and Justice Siddqui directed additional interior secretary Tariq Hayat to appear for the next hearing of the case on Tuesday.

During the hearing, Justice Siddiqui questioned the Deputy Attorney General on consulting the law ministry when the court had already issued its decision.

He said the additional interior secretary should be asked why he did not implement the court’s ruling against the IG.

The IHC adjourned the case’s hearing to Tuesday.

Separately, the court also discarded a petition against declaring Musharraf’s farmhouse residence a sub-jail.

Musharraff should've stayed in Dubai. There's a hadith which says that those are hungry for power are not fit to rule. May Allah swt help Pakistan and Ummat - e - Mustafa. My 2 cents - Musharaff should be thrown into jail.....we can't have 1 rule for the rich and another for the poor

How can Justice Shaukat Aziz be involved in a case against Musharraf when there is already a history of the two being pitted against each other? How can there be fairness in this case when the said Justice was involved in representing his Lal Masjid clients as an attorney against the state? Can you imagine the power trip that this Shaukat Aziz chap is on right now? Musharraf has not been proven guilty yet through one procedural issue to the next he is being kept in detention over bailable charges? When he goes to the court proceedings, the uncouth lawyers of ours abuse him and throw shoes at him. Where is the sense of decency and fairness in this process? He is being charged with treason yet the chief justice of Pakistan signed the PCO along with other judges who are now on Supreme Court bench. How is this treason if the then supreme court of Pakistan had approved of his abeyance of the constitution? When lies and emotions take control of our senses, then we are doomed. Justice cannot be had by going after Musharraf only when all the abettors and those who have been party to previous military dictatorships are allowed to run around free acting as born again democrats.

Wow Judiciary found another reason to punish Musharraf. they seem to have their priorities well set, mass murdering terrorists walk free "due to lack of evidence", corrupt are allowed to contest elections but a former soldier who defended the state against the religious & ethnic thugs is being tried for "treason" treason against who? against the taliban?

After a long dictatorial reign on Pakistan it is insane for him to think that he will play any role in Pakistan politics. He is the biggest idiot this country has ever known. It is sad to see all the insults being hurled on a former President of Pakistan but he brought it upon himself. No one else is to be blamed.

So much of valuable time and resources of the court is wasted in following petty issues related to Gen Musharraf's case by these biased and incompetent judges. Can't they spend that time clearing up the backlog of critical cases to provide justice to thousands who await their turn for years.

All my sympathy is with Musharraf what happened with Him is really a disgrace for Pakistan.His arrest potrayed another horrible and disguisting picture of our judges,law enforcement agencies and Government.He is one of the talented and able personality of our Country. Zardari "the Filthy and pathetic GARBAGE" of our Country why don't we dump Him in jail or hanged him . Musharraf is far far million times better than Zardari. Musharraf is such a sensible and graceful person.May Allah be with Him.Ameen

The conduct of the courts is pitiful. They are setting up an example of revenge and vengeance. The speed with which the charges are multiplying, and the fast track speed of the court dates, makes one wonder, if there is any justice left in Pakistan.

Let the those who have never cheated or robbed the country of Pakistan be the judges to try Musharraf. He has made mistakes during his rule but he gave the an open media to the people and he did his utmost to raise the economy of Pakistan. He has never stashed money for himself as the Sharif brothers or Zardari and others under him. Let us not forget, that we all have to face the final judgement before the Almighty Allah!

Musharraf should be tried in the court of law on various charges against him according to the Laws of Pakistan. This will not only send a strong message to the military that it is subordinate to civilian rule, but also to any future military dictator to think twice before going the Musharraf way.
