MUZAFFARGARH, March 9: PML-F Punjab President Ghulam Mustafa Khar will contest elections from the NA-176 constituency in a possible alliance with the PML-N.

Talking to Dawn, Khar said their talks with the PML-N on seat adjustment would start within a week. He said the PML-F would contest elections from the NA-176, PP-255 and PP-253 constituencies, where the PML-N had lost in the last general election.

He said his party had ample appeal in Sindh and would become popular in Punjab also now that he had become president of the party’s provincial chapter.

If the seat adjustment goes through, it could disappoint the PML-N’s probable candidates for NA-176, Sultan Hanjra and Mian Ghulam Abbas Qureshi.

Talking to Dawn, Hanjra said he would contest from NA-176 come what may. Qureshi’s friends say he would also contest the elections at any cost.

The NA-176 is held by PPP MNA Mohsin Qureshi who had been bed-ridden for three years.

His wife, Khalida Mohsin, is a PPP senator while their son, Dr Shabbir Qureshi, would face Khar and others from here.
