ISLAMABAD, Jan 30: Islamabad Falcons will meet Rawalpindi Falcons while Islamabad Rhinos will play Eagles in the semi-finals of the Falcons Invitational Basketball Tournament 2013 here on Thursday.

The quartet made their way to the semis after the final pool matches of the tournament were played at the Sector I-8 court here on Wednesday.

Islamabad Falcons continued their good run in the tournament with a 68-56 victory over FAST University, who had put up a good fight in the first-half, trailing by just a point.

But Falcons took charge in the second-half with Rizwan Khurshid’s 24 points in the match proving to be vital in their victory as Fouzan Gillani’s 26 points for FAST went in vain.

Earlier, Islamabad Rhinos dominated play throughout the 40 minutes of play to defeat Islamabad Wolves 71-40 in the first match of the day. Asif Awan (18) was the top scorer for the Rhinos while Hamza Lodhi top-scored with 22 points for the losers.

Jarri Abbas top-scored with 21 points as he led Eagles to a comfortable 60-37 victory over Islamabad Bulls while Bilal Baqar’s 17 points helped NUST Raptors hammer Crushers 53-33.—Sports Reporter
