PESHAWAR, Dec 26: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain has restricted his movement after instructions from the Awami National Party leadership during a meeting held in the aftermath of assassination of Bashir Ahmed Bilour in a suicide attack last week.

Mr Hussain, who remained on terrorists’ hit-list for his determination to carry out the government’s anti-militancy struggle, told Dawn on Wednesday that he had restricted his movement after orders from the party high command.

“I am a worker of the ANP and bound to obey its directives. The party leadership told me it doesn’t want to lose me and therefore directed me not to go on scheduled visits,” Mr Hussain said.

The information minister said that a meeting held under party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan on Tuesday had strictly asked him to stay away from addressing public meetings in his home constituency ahead of coming general election.

Mr Hussain whose lone son Mian Rashid Hussain was killed by Taliban over two years ago, says he will perform his official engagements, but would keep aloof from showing up at public places.

A day after killing of his son the terrorists had carried out another attack outside his residence at his ancestral village Pabbi, which had left many people dead. Mr Hussain had survived the attack because he was not present there. — Bureau Report

Atleast they have the courage to stay in the country unlike those who fled the country by making agreements with the dictators.

He is a very brave man. He and Bashir Bilour used to coordinate their statements and actions against the Taliban. These measures are appropriate.

Mr. ifthikhar Hussain, It is time to change the course on this murky war on terror. The enemy is not known and is not verified. Statements are issued by the so called Taliban people after almost all terror incidents but nobdoy of vital position has been caught so far by the military. The war in Pakistan in terms of political ownership and military operations is now on for the past few years. But the result is more fear, more insecurity, more civilian bloodshed and more loss of Political leaders especially in KPK province. ANP must analyze the whole picture of this very dirty war and revise its stand. It should make it clear to the rulers in Islamabad and to the Military Generals that the people of KPK can;t afford to have this bloodshed for ever. They must win it within a time frame known and acceptable to the people of KPK OR end this un-winning war. ANP has been used as a front in this war while others are reaping all the benefits from world powers. The longer they keep this war the more they will get the benefits.

Can you honestly tell us did you vote for this person?
Abdul Ali Jan 05, 2013 05:13pm
While KPK suffers, our top leadership of PPP is busy gloating over the past glory, the shaheeds of Gari Khuda Baksh.
