LAHORE, Nov 10: Robbers looted gold worth Rs5.5 million from a Gujranwala-based jeweller besides looting cash and valuables worth Rs900,000 in three other robbery cases in the city on Saturday.

Two armed men waylaid jeweller Ali and his friend, Ameen, in Lorry Adda police limits and snatched 1.87kg gold at gunpoint.

Four robbers stormed into the house of Rahat in Ahbab Colony in Kot Lakhpat police limits and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.Three robbers barged in the house of trader Imran Javed in phase 5 in Defence B police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs300,000.

Four robbers entered a shop in Township police limits and made off with cash and valuables worth Rs125,000.

SHOT DEAD: A 45-year-old man was killed and his woman relative injured in a shooting near Nishat Mor in Cantonment on Saturday.

South Cantonment police said Amjad of Maryam Colony was going on a motorcycle along with his relative, Nusrat, when his rival, Nadeem, along with accomplices opened fire. The suspects fled the scene after leaving the motorcyclists injured. Amjad succumbed to his wounds at a hospital.

The police said Nadeem, a former constable, apparently killed Amjad as he had murdered the suspect’s brother a year ago following a children’s quarrel.

Amjad, a father of four, was released on bail from a jail a few days ago.

The police said Nadeem had killed a man in police lock-up few hours after he was taken into custody in connection with the murder of his three sons.

The police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against Nadeem and his accomplices.
