QUETTA, Oct 8: A 12-year-old boy was killed and 13 people, four police personnel among them, were injured when a bomb exploded on Zarghoon Road in the city on Monday.

The explosive device had been planted in a motorbike.

The explosion damaged a rickshaw, a motorbike, a bicycle and some nearby buildings.

DIG (operations) Wazir Khan Nasar said the bomb was detonated through remote control.

The boy who was killed has been identified as Mohammad Isa.

According to senior police officer, Asif Ghafoor, he was injured and died in hospital.

Mohammad Babel, a rescue official from the country’s largest charity, also confirmed the boy’s death.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The injured—Musa, Fateh Sher, Bashir Ahmed, Ghani, Karim Khan, Mauladad, Fakiruddin, Nizamuddin, Mohammad Ramazan, Mohammad Azam, Jalaluddin, Nauroz Khan, Ghulam Mohammad and Abdul Baqi—were admitted to the civil hospital.

Bomb disposal personnel said that four-to-five kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani condemned the attack and directed law-enforcement personnel to bring the attackers to book.

In a statement issued here, he said killers were enemies of humanity because no religion allowed the killing of innocent people.

The chief minister said terrorists were conspiring to disturb the situation in the province in order to obstruct the process of development.

He said the government would frustrate their designs.
