Body stuffed in bag found

KOHAT, Oct 1: Body of a tribesman was found in a gunny bag on the Kohat bypass road here on Monday.

The father of the victim told the city police the deceased went missing after attending a marriage party and after 12 hours they found his body packed in a gunny bag.

The police said the victim has been identified as Haji Akbar, son of Jan Akbar, belonging to Ali Khel tribe of Orakzai Agency. The father of the deceased informed the police that they had an old enmity in the tribal area and registered the case against his enemies.—Correspondent

Judicial complex in Charsadda

PESHAWAR, Oct 1: The Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Dost Mohammad Khan announced on Monday work on a spacious judicial complex in Charsadda would start next month.

The chief justice assured a delegation of the Charsadda district bar association that all their genuine problems would be addressed and they would not be having any complaint against the judiciary.

The delegation headed by president of the association Waris Khan Mohammadzai and general secretary Mujeebur Rehman apprised him about some of their pressing issues.

The delegation assured the chief justice of its support to different steps taken for independence of judiciary.

The general secretary of the bar told Dawn they had apprehended that a former chief justice of the high court had planned to shift the proposed judicial complex from Charsadda to Hazara Division.

However, he added the chief justice assured them that there was no such plan.—Bureau Report

Technical education

KHAR, Oct 1: Assistant political agent, Bajaur Agency, Tariq Khan has stressed the need for enhancing technical education for progress and prosperity of tribal areas. The government is taking keen interest in developing technical education in the agency, he added.

He was addressing the opening ceremony of newly-established Hamalia Technical Institute here on Monday.

Renowned educationists, elders of the area and residents participated.

Tariq Khan said technical education was vital to put the region on the path of progress. “Technical and vocational education is necessary for attaining self-sufficiency, prosperity and supremacy in the world,” he added.

He said shortage of funds was the main hurdle in improving technical education. He assured the private sector for providing all possible support and protection in this regard.—Correspondent

Cheque for heart patient

PESHAWAR, Oct 1: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar on Monday delivered a cheque of Rs0.25 million to Khawar Nazir, a citizen of Peshawar, for treatment of his son Usman Khawar, who is suffering from severe heart problem.

The cheque was approved by the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, after a request by Khawar Nazir.—Bureau Report

Probe into fire incident

PESHAWAR, Oct 1: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has ordered inquiry into the outbreak of fire in the Civil Defence store, to determine the cause of the incident and fix responsibility.

A statement issued from the home and tribal affairs department on Monday said section officer (complaints and enquiries section) of the department has been assigned the duty to conduct a fact-finding inquiry regarding the incident.

The inquiry officer was directed to finalise the inquiry and submit his report before the competent authority at the earliest for further necessary action.

Meanwhile, the director civil defence of the province has been directed to let the home department know about the extent of losses and estimated cost of damages occurred during the incident.—Bureau Report

Two arrested in Mingora

MINGORA, Sept 1: The Mingora police have arrested parents of a boy, who allegedly eloped with a girl and then tied the knot with her against the will of her parents in Malukabad area of Mingora.

Police said father of the girl reported that her daughter had been kidnapped by a boy a few days ago. He nominated the accused, his father and mother in the FIR. He said his daughter had already solemnised nikah with another boy of Rangmala of Mingora some times back.

However, uncle of the accused told a press conference his nephew and the girl had tied the knot on their own will. He alleged, the police arrested parents of the boy in violation of human rights.

He said the couple had gone underground due to fear of death or police harassment.

He appealed to DIG Malakand, IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to order release of the parents of the boy and provide security to them.—Correspondent

Eight hurt in roof collapse

MARDAN, Oct 1: A schoolteacher and seven minor students were injured when roof of a private school collapsed in Pirsadi area of Takhtbai tehsil on Monday.

Roof of the Hera Model School collapsed when labourers were busy in repair of roof of one of the rooms of the school.

As a result, the schoolteacher identified as Qari Inayat-u-Rehman and minor students Haider, Akmal, Anwar Ali, Kamran, Ziyad, Ijaz and Ajmal received multiple injuries.

People of the nearby areas rushed to the school and shifted the injured to the Takhtbai hospital.

However, the injured schoolteacher was stated to be in precarious condition due to which he was referred to the Mardan Medical Complex.—Correspondent

Women trafficker arrested

NOWSHERA, Oct 1: The police have arrested the main character of alleged women trafficking from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab along with a young girl at Akora Khattak.

Police said a woman, Sakeena Khan, wife of Amjad Khan, resident of Akora Khattak, wanted to Nowshera police in the kidnapping case of Tanzeena Khan, son of Rafique Khan, resident of Akbar Pura, on June 25, 2012 and soled in Punjab, had been arrested.

Police said she was arrested in jurisdiction of Akora Khattak police station when she was going to Attock along with a young girl.

Akbar Pura police presented her on Monday in the court of Civil Judge Nowshera Mian Zahid Ullah Jan who handed her over to Peshawar police on a 15 day judicial remand.

Meanwhile, DCO Ghulam Mohammad Khan, addressing a function, assured the retired employees of payment of pension soon.—Correspondent
