KARACHI, Sept 23: The Pakistan Coast Guards have seized a huge quantity of hashish being smuggled from the Naka Khari check-post near Windar in Balochistan on Saturday night.
According to coast guard officials, they received a tip-off from intelligence sources that a huge quantity of narcotics was being transported from the RCD Highway near Naka Khari check-post in Windar.
A special mobile was sent to the area for checking. The coast guard officials spotted a suspicious truck loaded with apple crates.
They signalled the truck driver to pull over, but the driver increased his speed to escape and stopped his vehicle a few kilometres away from the check-post. The driver abandoned the truck and fled.
However, a person was taken into custody along with the truck by the officials. The officials recovered about 597 kilogrammes of fine quality hashish (in one kilogram packets) from hidden cavities in the diesel tank of the truck.
The estimated street value of the drugs is said to be around Rs14 million.
Further investigations are under by an special investigation team of the coast guards. —PPI
