KARACHI, Sept 4: Unseeded local tennis coach Rehmat Ali Ahsan shocked top seed Malik Hamza straight 6-3, 6-1 to reach men’s singles last four of the 22nd Sindh Sports Board (SSB) talent hunt ranking tennis championship at the PN Physical Training and Sports Centre on Tuesday.

Rehmat was joined by Abdul Rehman and Omer Shahid after they cruised to emphatic wins. Rehman whipped Hasnain Haider 6-2, 6-3 while Omer blanked Ali Osama 6-0, 6-0. The winner of Fahim Ramzan and Khaliq-uz-Zaman clash will complete the quartet on Wednesday.

Hamza, however, earned some consolation when he chalked up a crushing 6-0, 6-0 victory over saeed Hussain to advance into juniors’ under-17 singles semis.

Teenager Ibrahim Iltifat became the first player to qualify for under-15 final by getting the better of Zubair Raja 6-1, 6-3.

Under-15 singles:

Quarter-finals: Zubair Raja bt Shabbir Mohammad 7-5, 3-6, 10-8; Marib Malik bt Hania Naveed 6-2, 6-4. Semi-final: Ibrahim Iltifat bt Zubair Raja 6-1, 6-3.

Under-13 singles:

First round: Shabbir Mohammad bt Mahnoor 6-0, 6-0.

Under-11 singles:

First round: Mustafa Khan bt M. Ahmed Ehtisham 8-5.

Challenge League:

Shahroz bt Maheen Dada 1-6, 6-2, 10-2.

Future League:

Ibrahim Ilfifat bt Saeed Hussain 6-1, 6-2.
