KARACHI, Aug 23: A private security guard broke open lockers of a bank in Site area the night before Eid and robbed valuables, police said on Thursday.

According to police, said Mohammad Iqbal, the security guard of a private company posted at the bank’s State Avenue Branch in Site, asked his colleague to go home for Iftar saying he would take care of the bank. He later broke down 18 lockers and took away the valuables.

When his associate returned to the branch at about 7pm he found Iqbal missing and lockers broken. He informed senior officers of the bank about the robbery, SSP West Amir Farooqui said.

The accused used a gas cutter to open the lockers, police said, adding that there was no CCTV footage because the guard had apparently disconnected the recording of DVR.
