KARAK, Aug 9: Two persons were killed over a land dispute in Kanda Bajikhel village here on Thursday.

Police said that Niaz Wali group opened fire on Samar Badshah, a primary schoolteacher, and his daughter-in-law Saima and both sustained critical injuries. Mr Badshah succumbed to his injuries before getting any treatment, while Ms Saima was referred to Peshawar from Karak hospital.  However she also died on way to Peshawar.

Mohammad Farooq, son of Mr Badshah, registered an FIR in Karak police station against three accused Mir Sahib Khan and Umer Ali, sons of Niaz Wali, and Mohammad Ismail of Kanda Bajikhel. Police have started further investigations.

In another incident, four people were injured when two motorcycles collided at Alikhel Chowk here. They were identified as Khan Gul, Gul Nawab, Awal Khan and Sawab Gul.

CCB FUNDS: The development budget of Rs630 million, which was to be spent through Citizen Community Boards (CCBs) during year 2011-12, still remains unused and the board office-bearers have demanded immediate release of the funds.

Sources in social welfare department, Karak, told Dawn on Thursday that Rs630 million were earmarked for sanitation and development schemes for provision of drinking water and basic facilities in health and education sectors across the district, but the funds remained unused due to political tussle over funds distribution among the CCBs.

The sources said that now the list of CCBs had been sent to Peshawar by the district coordination officer for approval of the secretary local government.

These CCBs were recommended by the budget development committee, Karak.

The sources said that of total 340 CCBs, who had applied for schemes, about 84 were selected for government approval, which was still awaited.

The CCBs have demanded of the government to increase the funds and grant approval without any delay.
