ISLAMABAD, July 27: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Friday that Nato supply routes were reopened without signing an agreement with the US as required by the resolution adopted by parliament.
Talking to reporters at his parliament’s chamber, the maulana said Nato routes were reopened in haste without keeping national prestige in mind and bypassing guidelines of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security.
He said that decisions taken by the government were in conflict with national prestige and honour.
About speculation that the government’s term might be extended by one year, he said: “Conditions are not conducive for such an extension and a delay in general elections will be harmful to democracy”.
About his party’s election alliance for the next general election, Maulana Fazl said: “No decision has been taken yet about making seat adjustments or electoral alliance and anything will be clear only after dates for elections have been announced”.
