ISLAMABAD, July 14: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the Awami National Party is determined to continue its war against terror despite attacks on its leaders and workers.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he condemned the bomb blast at an ANP rally near Quetta on Friday and termed it a conspiracy against peace and stability in the country.

Mian Hussain said the attack was an attempt to demoralise the party when it was starting a countrywide campaign to mobilise people for the general election.

“The terrorists had targeted the ANP’s public meeting to disrupt the democratic process and peaceful political activity in the country,” he said.

“The world knows very well that the ANP has always raised the banner of resistance from the front, instead of being cowed down without giving a fight.”

The minister said the ANP was being targeted by terrorists everywhere, whether it was Karachi, Quetta or Lahore. He said society as a whole faced a threat from terrorists and appealed to the masses to stand up to thwart this threat.

Mr Hussain said his party and its leadership were being punished by terrorists because they had been in the forefront of war against terror.

He said he had talked to the party workers who were injured in the Friday’s blast and found them in high spirits and full of courage.
