PESHAWAR, July 9: The activists of different organisations held two separate protest demonstrations here on Monday against restoration of Nato supplies, drone attacks and prolonged power outages.

The first demonstration was held under the aegis of Pakistan Rah-i-Haq Party near Peshawar Press Club. Chanting slogans against the government, the demonstrators were carrying banners inscribed with different demands.

Led by district president of the party, Dr Javed Kamali, the protesters demanded end to drone attacks and electricity loadshedding and stoppage of Nato supply.

Talking to journalists, Dr Kamali said that restoration of Nato supply was a treason with the blood of the soldiers, who were killed at Salala checkpost. He said that innocent tribesmen were being killed in drone strikes.

He demanded of the government to take solid steps to end drone attacks and stop Nato supply. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, he said, should control loadshedding or step down.

He said that there were sufficient natural resources for generating electricity in the province but the rulers were unable to take steps for exploitation of the resources. He said that provincial government should ensure end to loadshedding in the upcoming holly month of Ramazan.

Also, students’ wing of Pasban staged a protest demonstration against prolonged power outages. The protesting students were led by Pasban provincial president Arshad Angar, district chairman of the students’ wing Jano Khan and Matiullah.

Addressing on the occasion, they said that power outages had put economy of the country at stake. The traders were forced to shift their businesses to other countries, they added.

They demanded of the government to end loadshedding and take tangible steps in that regard otherwise they would launch a protest movement across the province.
