LAHORE, July 3: Contrary to a Punjab government handout issued on Tuesday saying doctors in southern Punjab have disassociated themselves with young doctors’ strike in the province and joined their duties, the medics were continuing with their agitation.
The handout claims about ‘90 per cent’ of young doctors had returned to their duties in the Nishtar Hospital Multan while doctors were engaged in provision of medical facilities to the patients in government hospitals in Bahawalpur as well.
However, according to our staff correspondent in Multan the young doctors were still on strike and there was no respite for the patients there.
The handout added the Punjab government had evolved a comprehensive plan for ensuring healthcare facilities for people under which special camps were set up in four hospitals of Lahore.
