DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 14: Acting on public complaints, the NWFP Inspector-General of Police, Mohammad Saeed Khan, has ordered the transfer of ASP Malik Mohammad Yousaf from Dera Ismail Khan to Peshawar.

The order, which was faxed to Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday, asked the police officer to immediately relinquish his charge and report to the police headquarters in Peshawar. Bannu DSP Mohammad Idrees Khan was ordered to replace him.

Various complaints of corruption were lying against Malik Yousuf, who was selected as ASP through the PSC and was working in D. I. Khan.

During his stay here, he was charged with patronizing undesirable elements and drug peddlers in the area.

The ASP was also alleged to have picked up a circus contractor on the third day of Eidul Fitr and kept him in illegal confinement at his official residence for more than two hours, asking him to produce a written statement against the SHO City, accusing him of receiving bribes for the Eid fair.

A team comprising businessmen, social and political circles had met the D. I. Khan SSP in his office on Dec 12 and briefed him about the malpractice in which the ASP was allegedly involved.
