KARACHI: At least six people were shot dead and six others injured in different incidents of firing in various areas of Karachi on Monday, police and ambulance sources said.

They said that two men were gunned down by unknown armed men in Sherpao Colony. The deceased were identified as Akhtar Khan, 50 and Zubair 35.

Their bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities.

Separately, in a clash between two rival groups at Pehlwan Goth, Gulistan-i-Johar at least nine people were injured. They were rushed to nearby hospitals, where a seriously injured man and a woman breathed their last.

The deceased were identified as Imdad, 22 and Gulshan Bibi, 40. Shops and markets in the area went closed after the incident. Police and rangers started a search operation in the area and arrested at least 10 suspects.

Meanwhile, two people were killed by unidentified armed assailants in New Karachi. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where one of the victims was identified as Amir.

Moreover, 30-year old Sher Khan was injured by unknown armed men in Frontier Colony, Metroville. He was shifted to the JPMC.
