HYDERABAD, June 12: A student suffered bullet wounds and seven others received minor injuries in a clash between two groups of students in the Sindh Agriculture University in Tandojam on Tuesday.

According to the university sources, the clash in the crop production faculty took place in the wake of a scuffle in the animal husbandry department during a religious gathering on Monday. Students Hussain Bux Vistro alias Mor and Mohammad Muavya were involved in the scuffle.

On Tuesday, both the students and their supporters clashed, using guns, sticks and clips. Hussain Bux suffered bullet injuries and R.B. Vistro, Yusuf Sheikh, Khalid Baloch, Faisal Baloch, Umair Qaimkhani, Nawaz Baloch and others received minor injuries.

Hussain Bux, R.B. Vistro and Yusuf Sheikh were taken to Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

Students involved in the clash are said to be associated with student wings of different political parties.

A contingent of police and Rangers rushed to the spot. The Tandojam police have registered a case on the complaint of one of the injured student against 10 students, including Khalid Baloch, Murad Baloch and Mohammad Muavya.

Tension prevails in the hostels of the university where Rangers have been deployed. A large number of students left hostels as the university administration asked students to vacate hostels. Source said that the administration was planning to re-allot hostel rooms.

Summer vacations have also been announced from June 16 for 15 days.
