SWABI, June 9: A police constable was killed during a pre-dawn encounter with proclaimed offenders in Kuthkani area of Maini village here on Saturday, police said.

They said that a team of Topi city police station, led by sub-inspectors Salim Khan and Mushtaq Khan, raided the house of proclaimed offender Asif Khan following a tip-off that some criminals were present there.

As the police ordered the criminals to surrender, they opened fire on them and as a result constable Kashif Ali was killed.

However, the criminals escaped from the house cordoned by the police.

Mr Kashif belonged to Kalu Khan village and his funeral was held on Saturday.
