TIMERGARA, May 24: A five-year-old girl student of Lower Dir district has accused a teacher of beating her severely.

My teacher Qari Ibarhim beat me so severely that I was taken to hospital for treatment,” Ruheen, the minor student, told journalists at her home in Timergara.

The student of Iqra Model School and Madressa said that the teacher beat her with a plastic pipe on the complaint of other students. She said that she fell unconscious owing to the physical torture and was rushed to district headquarters hospital by her relatives for treatment.

She was discharged from the hospital after being provided with first aid. The student showed marks of torture on her body and said that she would never go to the same school.

According to other students, Ruheen was beaten by the teacher when other girls complained against her. They said that Qari Ibrahim ran a seminary in the school building in second time.

WORKSHOP: A four-day international workshop on material modeling and simulation was held at University of Malakand.

The workshop, held in the Convocation Hall of the university, concluded on Thursday.

Vice-chancellor Dr Rasool Jan was chief guest on the occasion while the guest of honour was Dr Saadat Anwar Siddiqui, the former director of centre of solid state physics, Punjab University.

Dr Fazal-i-Aleem, former director centre of high energy physics, appreciated the organisers of the workshop for arranging the event while Dr Khurshid Aslam Bhatti thanked them for their hospitality.

The workshop was inaugurated by the President of Hakim Sabzevari University, Iran, Dr Abbas Muhammadian. Dr Hussein Rahnamaye, Dr Waqar, Dr Rashid, Kifayatullah, Dr Mumtaz, Dr Manzoor, Dr Sultan Alam, Dr Mir Azam, Dr Sohail, Dr Ezzat Khan and Asif Imran also attended the workshop.
