Pasni: lack of drinking water

PASNI, 120km east of Gwadar, lies at a great bay, the extreme south point known as Jebal Zaren. It presents an open roadstead although not so well protected as Gwadar bay. Further up the coast; thousands of people, living there, are deprived of basic facilities; such as hygienic drinking water.

Moreover, people in places like ‘Waadi Sar’ Khudadad Mullah, Firagh Raike Pusht, Bungalow Bazaar, Nizar Mullah and many more have no access to potable water.

According to the neopathologist at the Civil Hospital, Pasni, diseases such as stomach ache, whooping cough, bronchitis, anemia and rheumatism have increased. The Akanda Dam is located in the district and can be a good source of water supply to Pasni. I request the authorities concerned to look into the matter.

I really feel pity for the people living on the coastal land of Sindh and Balochistan. basic amenities of life are non existential. I think either the government of balochistan or the federal government should start making 2 small dams. 1st ) for pasni : they should make a water reservoir and treatment plant at shadi river, where it meets dosi kaur lake.. 2nd ) omara : they should make the dam on basol river near sular kaur area.

If Pasni is near the coast or there is brackish water below ground, a "reverse osmosis unit " is the answer to this problem as it can create quality drinking water from low levels of salty water close to the beach. Small packaged units cost about $25,000 and higher capacity units will cost higher. These units can be put into operation within weeks. Local authorities can procure such units from UK, Italy, US and Korea. They can alsobe procured from Indi at much lower cost as they are now being fabricated locally as a national initiative. RO units is actually the solution that India has found to install in all its coastal areas where a low cost and rapid soultion to water problems is required
